소개
발달장애로 인해 필요한 서비스를 충분히 받지 못하는 캘리포니아에 거주하는 한인 커뮤니티의 발달장애인들과 그 가족들을 지원하는 비영리단체입니다. 한인 커뮤니티가 가진 문화적, 언어적 특수성과 그에 따른 필요의 차이에 대한 이해를 기반으로 하고, 발달 장애인들의 독립적인 삶과 지역 사회 내 통합을 지원하는 서비스와 프로그램들, 발달장애인과 가족들에게 지속적인 교육과 업데이트된 정보 및 리소스를 제공하며 발달 장애인에게 필요한 서비스를 받는데 어려움이 있는 가정들을 1:1 으로 도와 드립니다.
BBT 는 2003년 캘리포니아, 오렌지 카운티 내 얼바인 지역에서 발달 장애를 가진 자녀를 둔 여섯 가정이 모여서 parent support group 을 만들어 정보를 나누고 자녀를 키우는 어려움과 고충을 함께 하며 위로와 격려를 주고 받은, 부모가 주도가 된 Korean Parent Support Group 이 근간이 된 비영리단체이며 현재 총 여덟 개의 다른 support group 을 운영하고 있습니다.

A non-profit organization that supports underserved Korean-speaking individuals and their families affected by intellectual and developmental disabilities. BBT provides culturally and linguistically sensitive services and programs that foster independent life and community integration for individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in the Korean American community and provide consistent family education, information, and resources.
In 2003, six families in the Irvine area of Orange County, California, formed a parent support group to share information, support one another through the challenges of raising children with developmental disabilities, and provide comfort and encouragement. BBT is a non-profit organization that has grown from this foundation, now encompassing eight (8) different support groups.
